Robin Ingals is living the dream. Her business, Majestic Mountain Vacation Rentals, was recently featured on a well-known travel website. New friendships have blossomed in her life, and her bond with the charming Lee Kellerman deepens and grows.
But, during a ferry ride to watch Fourth of July fireworks, her friend Bailey Ward consumes poison and dies. A typed note listing boating omens was crumpled in her fist, indicating premeditated murder. With Bailey’s boss’s name on the note, the case appears to be a slam dunk, and the sheriff arrests him.
However, her friend had recently inherited a substantial sum of money, and no one except Robin, Lee, and Bailey’s overemotional Aunt Myrna were aware of the secret will.
Suspicion creeps in, and Robin can’t shake the thought that the aunt may have a hand in the crime. Fueled by her unwavering resolve, Robin ignores her own safety and dives into a quest for the truth. Will she unravel the mystery, or will someone get away with murder and millions of dollars?
Robin Ingals runs a successful vacation rental business in the cozy town of Starry Hill, Washington. She is deeply in love with Lee Kellerman, the local sheriff's intern. On the 4th of July weekend, the happy couple and Robin's friend, Bailey Ward, were enjoying fireworks from a ferry. Bailey brought a bottle of good wine with a list of the boat omens. One of them suggested drinking wine on board and pouring some out into the water. Bailey took a sip and died. The wine was poisoned. Shocked and stricken with grief, Robin and Lee began their own investigation of Bailey's murder. They kept in mind that Bailey had received a considerable fortune from her late father and had entrusted the execution of her will to her Aunt Myrna. Will Robin find out who killed Bailey? Twisted Fate by Jeanie Wolfe, the second book in a series, is a delightful read for fans of mystery, crime drama, and detective fiction.
In Twisted Fate, Jeanie Wolfe offers thoroughly crafted intrigue. We follow the course of events from Robin's perspective. It was exciting to check on multiple puzzling leads along with her. Robin is a lovable character. She is determined to find the truth about Bailey's murder despite the many challenges and dangers she and Lee face. Robin is compassionate and kind. She displays deep insights into human nature and always follows her heart. Other characters are also very well developed. Jeanie uses contrasts to describe Aunt Myrna, an interesting secondary character. Myrna can be curt and straightforward, yet she lives in a cozy cottage. Scents of lavender and lilac complement Myrna's complex portrait. The author's writing style is almost succinct, and the dialogues are to the point, making Twisted Fate a smooth and quick read. Jeanie explains the effects of the poison that killed Bailey in an easy-to-understand way. The narrative is captivating and logical, with a believable love storyline. The thrilling scenes at the end of the book made my heart race. I highly recommend Twisted Fate and cannot wait for Robin's further adventures. . ~ Nino Lobiladze, Readers’ Favorite
